I am often asked for advice on what to look for when choosing a hair extension stylist, so I thought it would be good to share the following tips with you.
- Ask to see the persons work i.e before and after photos
- Check their qualifications as to where they trained and how long they have been applying hair extensions
- Make sure they are a qualified hairdresser VERY IMPORTANT. Hair extensions have to be cut and blended in a certain way. They are many people who do a 3 day course and then practice BEWARE
- If the price is cheap and sounds too good to be true then it is too good to be true. Top quality hair is not cheap
- 100% hair has a natural wave. Anything else has silicone added to make the hair feel soft or is processed
- Never have Chinese hair it is course and lacks movement and body
- There are certain companies that only let you train with them if you are a qualified hairdresser (Great Lengths is one, who will only allow qualified hairdressers to train with them)
- Ask for some references
- Be aware of the different methods

Great Lengths Hair is 100% natural. There is no added silcone added to the hair. This is extremely important as many other brands or makes feel great but when washed several times the silicone is removed and the hair begins to knot and becomes dry and un manageable.

Different Methods
- Pre bonded- if the applications is preformed correctly lasts for approx 4 months and needs no maintenance.

- Micro rings – Not long lasting and the plastic on the rings wears off and you end up having lots of metal rings that show
- Shrinkies – Don’t last and it is very cheap and easy to do a 3 day training
- Glue gun method – too much heat on them and they fall out. Glue on the hair will cause weakness to the your own hair
- Clip In Hair Extensions - These are tempory and need to be taken outeach day before going to sleep. They can be useful if you have a party or an important function to go to. However these do not compare to having permenant hair extensions. Good quality clip in hair extensions can be quite costly.
